Te Tai Tokerau Kōhanga Reo Takiwātanga wānanga

  • Te Tari ā-Rohe – Te Tai Tokerau 70 Otitia Road (map)

He kaupapa mō ngā kōhanga reo, kaiako, kaimahi me ngā whānau

Kanorau Consultancy is pleased to be delivering a two-day takiwātanga wānanga for kōhanga reo. This wānanga is designed to support kōhanga reo and whānau to strengthen their understanding of takiwātanga through a kaupapa Māori and neuro-affirming lens.

This kaupapa recognises that every tamaiti is unique, and that kōhanga reo play an important role in creating safe, inclusive and affirming environments where all tamariki can thrive.

We are also extending this wānanga opportunity to whānau who have tamariki attending kōhanga reo. Whānau are encouraged to attend alongside kaiako and kaimahi to strengthen shared understanding, build practical strategies, and create stronger pathways of support around tamariki.

1:1 Support Sessions Available

As part of this wānanga, we will also be offering individual 1:1 sessions during and post the wānanga. These sessions are available for whānau or kōhanga reo who may want to kōrero further about:

  • their tamaiti

  • specific support needs

  • regulation or sensory challenges

  • pathways of support

  • practical strategies within kōhanga reo or at home

These sessions are intended to provide a safe and supportive space for more individualised kōrero and guidance. These will be first in first serve basis. Please contact us for more information.

We recognise that building understanding and capability around takiwātanga cannot happen through a single engagement alone.

Following the wānanga, Kanorau will also provide post-wānanga follow up support to help kōhanga reo and whānau continue applying the learning in practice. This may include:

  • follow-up kōrero

  • guidance and practical support

  • ongoing strategy development

  • support around implementation within kōhanga reo environments

Our goal is to ensure that the learning continues beyond the two days and supports long-term, sustainable change for tamariki and whānau.
